Duxingshi Village will be developed into a cultural park to allow visitors to remember and experience the Chuan Tsun(military dependents’ community) culture.
Military culture tops the appeals of the old city in the regional development strategy. Duxingshi Village plays a key role in the future regional development of Magong. Nowadays, there are plans to relocate Penghu Headquarters and Gunboat Port.A special landscape combiningnatural coastal area and the port can be seen in the southwest of Magong. Within the walls, Penghu Headquarters, Penghu Tian-Hou Temple and the old central street are connected to form a network of historic sites and living culture. Walking through Shun-Cheng Gate, Lover’s Walkway and harbor path on the south, tourists will see a wharf and the first and second fishing ports, forming a special harbor city scenery. Moreover, the cultural park presents the life of former military troops and their family as well as the diverse cultures of immigrants. It shows the living and cultural history inside and outside the city walls and tells how the special geography, climate and natural landscape of Magong changed under human intervention and how nature interacts with human environment.
